Our Stories

Retired? Sr. Mary Leonard Hache is a retired public health nurse. After returning from seven years in Pakistan, she worked for the Visiting Nurses Association for twenty-two years, providing nursing care to the poor in their homes. Today, she lives in University Park, MD and enjoys an active retirement in several arenas.

Sister Mary Leonard HacheShe is involved at St. Mark’s parish both as a Eucharistic minister to homebound parishioners and as an organizer/distributer of food to the poor at the parish food pantry. She also visits residents at Sacred Heart Home, a nearby local Catholic nursing home, and has a special relationship with the resident Trinitarian priests and brothers – long-time friends of the RJM.

She maintains an active telephone ministry with family and RJMs.  These years of Mary Leonard’s life are rich in “giving and not counting the cost!”

New Direction: Sr. Antoinette JacquesSr. Antoinette Jacques is one of those amazing sisters who has taught all grades from 1-12. However, in 1967 when she received her Masters Degree from Fordham University, her life took a new direction.  She began a ministry with the Developmentally Disabled that she continues to this day.

In 1981, Bishop Louis Gelineau of Providence, RI recognized Sr. Antoinette and several other people as having distinguished themselves by their service to the disabled.  Today you can find Sr. Antoinette in Exeter, RI serving as a pastoral assistant at Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church.

She is also the caregiver for two developmentally disabled adults who live with her in Exeter where she provides a small, family like setting for them.  She is greatly loved by all who know and meet her!
