share their lives and presence while ministering at
various sites.
- ST. JOHN’S SCHOOL is a parish school that the
RJMs pioneered 100 years ago. More than 250 of our
sisters have taught in this school. The Sisters
administered the school until two years ago. Two
sisters teach in the school.
- HOLY FAMILY SCHOOL, New Rochelle: One sister is
principal of this school, whose aim is to create an
atmosphere of collaboration and team work.
- HISPANIC MINISTRY: Another sister is involved
full time with the Center of Renewal and Education
for the Hispanics. Another RJM collaborates in the
Census Project.
- CARE FOR THE ELDERLY PEOPLE One Sister visits a
nursing home, brings the residents communion, helps
them to get to Mass, and collaborates in the
liturgy.
- CARDINAL O’CONNOR RESIDENCE (for retired priests
of the Archdiocese of New York) A sister works two
days a week as a receptionist at this residence.
- GUIDED READING TEACHER One Sister exercises her
many gifts by teaching in a public school.
ST. CLAUDINE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY:

- CHURCH OF THE RESURRECTION:
One RJM sister is the Director of Religious
Education, responsible for the organization of the
program and formation of catechists who teach 1025
students.

School ministries, as well as RJM community service.
- BETHANY SPIRITUALITY CENTER

NY 10930 Tel: 845-460-3061 The Center offers private and directed retreats,
programs for spiritual development, including
spiritual direction and Reiki, hosts groups for
varying lengths of time, offers Confirmation and
Graduation retreats, hosts ecumenical groups and
Recovery groups, offers retreats for priests,
religious and lay Christians. Retreats in Spanish
are also offered.
- THEVENET MONTESSORI SCHOOL:
(Corporate Ministry)

NY 10930 Tel: 845-460-3061 The school receives children from 2 ½ to 6 years
old, in multi-age groupings. The Montessori approach
to education focuses on educating the children for
freedom and life, in an atmosphere of deep respect
for each child and the classroom environment. One
Sister is the Administrator and another teaches part
time.
- POETRY One of our retired sisters has a
creative educational apostolate: She meets daily
with two children, awakening them to the beauty
of words and the rhythm of poetry and
introducing them to the rich heritage of English
literature.
- ARCHDIOCESAN CATECHETICAL LEADERSHIP
PROGRAM: One sister works in the formation of
catechetical leaders, especially the Directors
of Religious Education in the parishes. She has
written a handbook for them and gives workshops
and other formation. She has also contributed to
the editing of other documents used for
Religious Education.
- CATECHETICAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAM: Another
RJM gives classes to catechists for
certification in Religious Education by the
Archdiocese.

the Franciscan Sisters, while maintaining
