Owned and directed by the Religious of Jesus and Mary, Sophia House provides a nurturing environment in which women can explore their vocation with the support of others like them. It also allows them to experience community life while pursuing full-time study or employment.
In addition to two Religious of Jesus and Mary, the community can accommodate four women in discernment towards any religious order or congregation.
We live in a spacious, 6-bedroom house with two full bathrooms and a half-bath. Other rooms include chapel, kitchen, dining room, living room, lounge and library. Two sets of laundry facilities are available.
Our location is East Arlington, a quiet, mostly residential area two miles west of Harvard Square, on a major bus route and close to the Red line T stops at Davis and Alewife in Cambridge.
Within walking distance from Sophia House are:
• the Capitol Theater (good rates for first-run films)
• a range of good, affordable and diverse restaurants and cafes
• access to the Minute-Man Trail for cycling or walking
• Spy Pond
• a community park
• and so much more to explore.
