The Religious of Jesus and Mary [RJM] are an international apostolic congregation of 1550 sisters in sixteen provinces, with a generalate in Rome, Italy. Our sisters and associates, the Family of Jesus and Mary [FJM] are present in twenty-six countries, united by a common vision and desire to reveal God’s love as mirrored in the hearts of Jesus and Mary. We serve in educational institutions, retreat houses, catechetical and social service centers, and pastoral ministries.

From its origins in the nineteenth century, the congregation has been marked by its Ignatian spiritual heritage, devotion to the hearts of Christ and Mary, and a missionary tradition. By our attentiveness to the call of the Church and the needs of our world, each sister and each community wishes to manifest Christ and be an evangelizing presence among our sisters and brothers, wherever we are sent.

At our profession, we receive a silver cross, embossed with the initials “JM” surrounded by a crown of thorns. It symbolizes our call to reveal the love of Jesus and Mary in the midst of a suffering world, and it reminds us of the Congregational motto: PRAISED FOREVER BE JESUS AND MARY!
